4 weeks ago today I met my squad for the very first time, and every day since the Lord has been using each of them to teach me something about Him. From Marissa, I’ve learned how to be interruptible and receptive to the nudge of the Holy Spirit. From Kalli and Samantha, He has shown me what compassion and joy in the every day look like. From Lavontey and Carrie, He has shown me gentleness- strength under the control of a tender heart. This is just a glimpse into the intentionality of the Lord and the people He has brought into my life. How blessed am I to have thirteen new brothers and sisters in Christ, and hundreds of lessons from each of them!

17 days ago we arrived in Honduras. We were greeted by mountain ranges on all sides of us, and overflowing joy and hunger for the Lord. We are currently being hosted by Catracho Missions, a missions base that ministers to the community that lives on the mountain we are on. Every morning on the farm I wake up to the chickens and goats, and am reminded of my intense gratitude for His faithfulness to me.

Over the past weeks, the Lord has brought new meaning to my view of daily bread. At training camp, Marissa explained how “yesterday’s bread won’t do.” Every day we need him, and every day we are invited to sit across from and commune with the Living God. No matter if we are stranded in the wilderness and have only manna to eat, or if He has brought us into His banquet hall with a feast we can’t even imagine, there is joy in dining with him! Daily bread is something that I took for granted for years, and it is only now that I am understanding how necessary it is. What a blessing it is to be invited by the King, when He knows I have nothing to bring. He prepares a table for us, He pulls out our chair, He washes our feet. How could I ever turn that up?! My time in the Secret Place each morning has become the most precious time of my day, when I make eye contact with the one I love most and simply be.

My daily bread is what softens my heart to be shaped by the ministry we are doing. Every day here looks different! Many days my team and I are working on the farm helping them create a space for the community to have fellowship in. Other days we have kid’s classes, women’s classes, and house visits to minister more directly to the community. All ministry here has been a beautiful lesson in how important it is to have a servant’s heart! From playing with the kids and communicating solely through laughs, to working hard sanding walls and digging trenches, every single day the Lord shows up in what we are doing.

Once again, this is simply a glimpse into how He is moving! Some scriptures I have been meditating on and praying through these past weeks include:

Psalm 125:2 “Just as the mountains surround Jerusalem, the Lord surrounds his people both now and forever.”

Jude 24 “Now all glory to God, who is able to keep you from falling away and will bring you with great joy into his glorious presence without a single fault.”

Romans 8:15 “So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead you received God’s spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him ‘Abba, Father.’”

Ecclesiastes 3:1-11

Joel 2:25 “The Lord says, ‘I will give you back what you lost to the swarming locusts, the hopping locusts, the stripping locusts, and the cutting locusts. It was I who sent this great destroying army against you. Once again you will have all the food you want, and you will praise the Lord your God, who does these miracles for you.’”

Please be praying for the health of my squad and leadership team in the coming weeks, as well as a continued joy and gratitude in everyday life and ministry. Each day looks slightly different here, and yet each day is a breath of fresh air in the new unexpected ways the Lord shows up. I’m grateful for every moment!
